Anolis Resourcer by AnolisFX Anolis Resourcer by AnolisFX
Anolis Resourcer is a flexible Resource Hacker that exceeds the venerable ResHacker's capabilities in many areas, including support for x64 executables, Vista and Windows 7's MUI files, and 256x256 PNG icon support. It's GPL software available from [link]

You can use Anolis Resourcer to assist in the creation of Anolis Packages which can be installed with the Installer.

We'll be uploading the xpize and Vize packages to our dA page later.

UPDATE: On 2009-05-21 this deviation was updated to the 3428 build of Resourcer which replaces the earlier 3363 build. The release fixes a number of issues and adds a Batch Export feature which will be of use to people wanting to make custom resources for programs like Windows Media Player.

UPDATE: On 2009-05-26 this deviation was updated again, this time to build 3429. This fixes a critical race condition in the 3428 build. The zip archive now contains a command-line reference text file.

UPDATE: On 2009-09-01 this deviation was updated to match build 3531 (aka version 0.9). The archive includes a changelist.

Tried this. Has many limitations. But still, AWESOME. Please make command line usage easier. (For example, I want to update a list of IMAGE files in Aero.msstyle, but can't do it using batch files. Once a IMAGE is changed, Resourcer fails to update any of the next images. Bug?)
Still MUCH better than old reshacker!

Does this run on XP?
AnolisFX Featured By Owner Feb 16, 2011
Yes, it also should run on Windows 2000 too. It does require the .NET Framework 2.0 or later to run, however.

Is it better than restorator 2007 ?
AnolisFX Featured By Owner Jan 3, 2011
That's the objective. Remember, it's still a work in progress.

The main difference between Restorator and Resourcer is that Resourcer doesn't let you edit String Tables and Dialogs directly, it's really meant for people to replace them with raw resource binaries on disk (something only original developers would have).

I am working on changes that will bring proper editing into the software, so stay tuned.

I was looking for replacement of ResHacker for awhile, and hopefully my search is over!

If you don't mind to stear me in the right direction, how to edit String entries? I can only see them in String Table Viewer, but unable to modify them and compile, like it used to be in ResourceHacker... Are there any tutorials for this program?

Also the most impoartant question: Does Anolis Resourcer edit Adobe Flash projector executable files? I replaced an icon in such file, but the projector file doesn't work anymore, just plain white screen...

Thank you.

Thanks, that sounds like a bug to me :)

Can you upload the Flash Projector file somewhere so I can take a look at it? Thanks!

(sorry for taking so long to reply)

I've been using this and like it but I can't seem to find the "Find Text" and "Find Next" (with F3) feature that was in Reshack.

Am I missing something...if so where is it? If not please consider implementing this handy feature.

That's coming in the next version.

Great software. Beats the other ones which take much longer to view images :)

One suggestion though is when you are viewing all the images in a folder to allow to view them in their original size.
AnolisFX Featured By Owner May 19, 2009
I can't really enable that right now; I use a ListView to show the icons and thumbnails which means every item has to have the same size.

I'm working on a new version of Resourcer that adds batch processing support so you can dump all the resources in a file (or directory of files) to disk for examining later.

This version of Resourcer takes a while to load long lists of icons (like in shell32.dll or *.msstyles). I'll upload a newer version soon that fixes this issue.
